Jelani Ellis (she/her) is a Minneapolis-based artist. She received her BFA at Virginia Commonwealth University, her home state. Since then, she has tabled and sold her art in local markets, participated in residencies at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, Public Functionary and at Highpoint Center for Printmaking. Jelani is an eclectic who enjoys collecting and building skills in many different arenas. This website is a sorting shelf for her motley collections - a chance for the short, worldly existence of her works to be documented and passed onto a digital posterity…and to you! Her works are composed of reclaimed and foraged materials and often explore themes of temporality, consumption and ((something else))....a portrait of the mistress of the house. There is a little plaque to the side.
